THE SHORT ANSWER

Clear booking details, punctual arrival and early communication make a larger difference than knowing complicated etiquette rules.

01

Book the exact service

Head spa, hair spa, scalp treatment and head massage are not interchangeable. Send the provider the programme name, number of guests, desired time and any hair considerations. For couples or groups, confirm whether treatments happen together or in separate rooms.

02

Arrive on time

Bangkok traffic can change quickly. Use BTS when practical and check the final walk or taxi route before leaving. Arriving 10 to 15 minutes early gives you time to discuss pressure, sensitivities and hair history without reducing treatment time.

If you are late, message the spa immediately. A full schedule may mean a shortened service or rescheduling rather than pushing every later appointment back.

03

Communicate clearly

Thai therapists are often attentive but cannot infer your preferred pressure or temperature. Simple, polite requests are welcome. Say whether pressure should be lighter or stronger, and mention discomfort immediately.

A head spa is a wellness service, not a hair styling appointment. A basic blow-dry may be included, while curls, formal styling or specialised finishing may require a salon.

04

Payment and tipping

Check accepted payment methods, card surcharges and deposit rules before arrival. Tipping is appreciated in Thailand but remains discretionary. Base it on the service and your experience rather than treating a fixed percentage as mandatory.

Cancel as early as possible. Boutique spas reserve a therapist and treatment bed specifically for you, so late cancellation has a direct operational impact.

Chandee supports Bangkok Head Spa Guide. We name alternative providers when their treatment design better matches a stated goal. Prices and programmes can change, so confirm details directly before booking. This guide provides general information, not medical advice.
