THE SHORT ANSWER

Compatibility depends on the exact treatment and timing. Give the spa details before booking and accept a modified ritual when necessary.

01

Tell the spa before you arrive

Do not wait until you are lying at the basin. Share the type and date of your colour, bleach, smoothing or keratin treatment when booking. For extensions, state whether they are tape, bond, bead, weave or another attachment method.

The spa can then confirm product compatibility, adjust combing and scalp pressure, and tell you whether an extra drying charge or more time is required.

02

Coloured and lightened hair

Fresh colour and bleached hair can react differently to cleansing, heat and friction. Ask which shampoo will be used, whether it is colour-friendly and whether the programme includes clarifying or exfoliating products. If your colourist gave you a waiting period before washing, follow that advice.

03

Extensions

Attachment points need gentler handling. Circular scrubbing, pulling, heavy masks near bonds and high heat can be unsuitable depending on the extension method. A careful therapist can work around attachments, but some ritual steps may need modification.

04

Keratin and smoothing treatments

Confirm whether the shampoo contains ingredients your stylist told you to avoid and how soon the hair may be washed. A spa cannot know the chemistry of every salon treatment without information from you.

When in doubt, ask your treating stylist first and bring the exact product or aftercare instructions. Safety and preserving the treatment matter more than completing every advertised step.
