THE SHORT ANSWER

A head spa should have a clear beginning, middle and finish. Ask for the sequence in advance so the name of the service does not hide what you will actually receive.

01

Before the water starts

A good appointment begins with practical questions about sensitivities, recent hair treatments, extensions, preferred pressure and the outcome you want. A scalp-focused operator may examine your scalp. A relaxation-led spa may use this time to explain the sequence and settle you into the room.

02

The dry ritual

Some treatments begin with temple pressure, scalp massage, combs, sound elements or shoulder work before wetting the hair. This opening is important because it establishes pace and lets you adjust pressure while communication is easy.

03

Cleanse, massage and treatment

The wet phase can include one or two shampoos, scalp manipulation, exfoliation, steam, conditioner, keratin or a mask. Vietnamese-style treatments may use a circular Ring of Water while the therapist continues arm, shoulder or scalp work. Japanese-style programmes may spend more time on precise cleansing and treatment application.

04

Finish and aftercare

Most visitor-friendly Bangkok head spas include a basic blow-dry, but styling is usually simple rather than salon-level. Confirm this when booking. Afterward, ask when you should wash again and whether any product requires special care.

Speak up immediately if water is too hot, pressure is uncomfortable or fragrance causes irritation. Relaxation should never require tolerating discomfort.
